Medical Surgical Services at Rush Memorial Hospital
Our 25-bed Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Unit provides a wide range of medical care from pediatrics to geriatrics. We have a highly qualified and talented staff experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and chronic diseases.
We offer multiple levels of care:
- Acute Care
- Skilled Nursing
- Observation Services.
Our two-bed Progressive Care Program is equipped to meet your higher-level acute care needs. We recently added a two-bed Intensive Care Unit to provide care for patients with complex needs in a more advanced setting.
During your stay, we want you to be as comfortable as possible which is why the department operates with above-average staffing patterns and provides personalized nursing care with a team of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Patient Care Technicians. Nutritional consults, individualized discharge plans, respiratory and rehabilitation therapies and more, are available from team members committed to your recovery and care.

Visitor Guidelines
We understand the importance of family and friends during your healing journey. Please review our visitor guidelines to help maintain a safe and supportive environment:
Age Guidelines
- Visitors of any age are welcome.
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- The Charge Nurse may limit visitation based on the patient’s condition.
Special Circumstances
- Seriously Ill Patients: One family member may stay beyond regular visiting hours.
- Hospitalized Children: One parent may remain with the child at all times.
- End-of-Life Care: The number of visitors is determined by the Charge Nurse. When possible, patients will be moved to a private room for more comfortable visitation.
