RMH Swing Bed Program

RMH’s “Swing Bed Program” is especially designed for patients who are well enough to leave the hospital but not well enough to go home. Swing bed patients are allowed to remain in the hospital after discharge from normal hospital care. They say in the same location but they are reclassified as “swing bed patients” instead of regular hospital patients. They receive up to two weeks of skilled nursing care without having to be moved to a nursing home or rehab facility. They also benefit from being on site for inpatient rehab therapy, allowing them to build up health and skills before going home. In order to participate in the program, patients must have a three night qualifying inpatient stay immediately prior to admission into the program.
